Rome’s beauty is unforgettable and much of that is due to the Baroque art movement, which gave the city the look it has today. Learn about the artists responsible for creating this stunning aesthetic from a professional, friendly guide as they tell you all of the stories behind the art.

Discover the Baroque art movement in Rome...

Our expert guide takes you on a magical stroll through the center of Rome to learn about two of Rome’s most famous Baroque Masters, Carravaggio and Bernini.  Beginning at Piazza del Popolo, you will see some of Bernini and Caravaggio’s lesser known work before walking to Piazza di Spagna.  This famous square is home to the Spanish Steps, but most don’t know Bernini helped his father to sculpt the fountain in the piazza.

Your next stop is the church of Sant’ Andrea delle Fratte, which houses two of the most beautiful Bernini sculptures of angels originally done for the Ponte Sant’ Angelo, and just across the street is the home in which Bernini resided.  After a lovely walk past the Parliament building, also the piazza where Caravaggio was in his most famous bar fight, you will arrive at the church of San Luigi dei Francesi to see three of Caravaggio’s most beautiful paintings from the Life and Martyrdom of St. Matthew. Culminating in Piazza Navona, where you will be surrounded by Bernini sculpture and his most famous Fountain of the Four Rivers, you will be entertained by stories of Bernini and his rival Borromini.
