This week we have heard of two new updates to Italy’s Covid-19 related policies. The first, an announcement from PM Conte that the state of emergency will be extended, and the next is that mask wearing rules will change as of October 3rd. We are expecting the latest updated official decree from the Italian government to be released on October 7th. Until then, please check out the details below for the latest changes.
MANDATORY MASKS IN LAZIO REGION - UPDATE
Starting from Saturday October 3rd, 2020 wearing masks has become mandatory also outside, in the entire Lazio region. The only exemptions are:
- Children under 6 years old;
- Individuals with medical conditions incompatible with wearing a mask;
- People doing physical exercise/jogging.
EXTENSION OF THE STATE OF EMERGENCY
The Italian Government has decided to extend the “State of Emergency” from October 15th, 2020 to January 31st, 2021. This allows the executive branch to follow quicker decree procedures than usually allowed under normal circumstances. This is the second time that the State of Emergency has been extended, since originally it was set to end on July 31st, 2020.
